We just spent a few days at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs. Holy cow. The setting is majestic-huge sky, mountains an arm's length away, and gorgeous, gorgeous light-so I would have been happy at a cheesy chain motel off the highway. But the Ace is just so fabulous. The design is earthy and modern, the pool is cool and fun, and the drinks are fresh. The best part though? People-watching. There were celebrities, hipsters, families, middle-aged lesbian couples... I could have sat there for weeks.
